Giving thanks and being grateful is a real tonic.
‘Just for today show gratitude to every living thing’
In the USA Thanksgiving marks a specific occasion dating back to 1621. For Americans this is an historic day however giving thanks should be a daily practice in our lives and we should always take time to be grateful every day.
During hard times it may feel like there is little to give thanks for. The world over, people are facing challenges from financial, people losing their jobs, homes, self –respect; Disease, repression, control, conflict and sadly in too many cases, war.
On a daily basis people are constantly complaining.
You only have to read a newspaper or switch onto a news channel and we are bombarded with negativity. This is so easy to soak up and overshadow so much good in life.
This is only ONE perspective of our existence and reality. For every one negative story there are thousands of positive ones we may never get to hear. So...why not be active in giving them a voice?.....Let’s Start!
Count your blessings.
Sometimes we may not see that until later....a failed relationship that made us stronger or a job loss that took us onto a new fulfilling path.
Blue Skies, fresh air, birdsong, the sound of laughter, children giggling, fresh coffee...
Life can be overwhelming where we forget and lose sight of how blessed we really are, and take everything for granted like our family, friends, partners, health etc
The humble bee plays such a critical role and yet many wouldn’t think twice about it.
Nature provides us an antidote for all that is bad; when stung by nettles I suspect you will be really grateful for the dot leaf that grows nearby to soothe you!
Have you noticed when you show someone gratitude that not only they feel better, your own spirits lift? Being grateful is so very healing.
Wake up to gratitude!
Try a simple affirmation like, ‘I am grateful for all the good things in my life, in doing so, I give them the power to multiply’, or simply, ‘I am grateful and choose to be happy’.
Start a gratitude list –it will grow and this will boost you.
